BOTANIC SERIES

For years I have worked with many different camera formats and lighting and have been pleased with those results. In recent years I have worked with digital collage and have been pleased with those results. I am fascinated by the opportunities presented by the new technologies.

I am drawn to the unusualness present in some of the plants and flowers in my garden. To me there is beauty inherent in these flowers but more important is the odd quality present in my choices to be captured. It is as if I wanted these botanicals burned into my mind's eye for viewing and safekeeping. To do these, I scanned the scavenged subjects from my garden, (very often after their prime) and then printed them. They are cameraless prints, a modern form of photograms. I am influenced also by the earliest photographs made by Fox Talbot, THE PENCIL OF NATURE, in the mid 1800's.
